It was announced that Alison Brie will be starring alongside Jay Ellis and Kiersey Clemons in the upcoming film Somebody I Used To Know, which will be directed by husband Dave Franco. Also of note, this movie was co-written by Alison and Dave! The film is described as

The film follows workaholic Ally (Brie) who, on a trip to her hometown, spends a night reminiscing with her ex-boyfriend Sean (Ellis), which makes her start to question everything about the choices she’s made and the person she’s become. Things only get more confusing when she meets Cassidy (Clemons), a younger woman who reminds her of the person she used to be.

Dave was quoted during the news about the film saying, “Alison and I love romantic comedies and were inspired by the classics from the ’80s and ’90s,” said Franco. “We couldn’t be more excited about working with Jay and Kiersey, who are both extremely natural performers, capable of bringing levity and drama in equal measure. And we’re so grateful to have partnered with Amazon Studios, who have been incredibly supportive in helping bring this project to life.”

She wins an all-expenses trip to the company’s gorgeous “institute” outside of Florence, Italy, and the chance to meet the restaurant chain’s wealthy and charismatic owner (Nivola). Along with a mismatched group of local American franchise managers, Amber finds a far different adventure than the romantic fantasy she had imagined.

Great news! It was announced that Alison’s latest movie The Rental is ranked #1 at the U.S. box office for two weeks in a row, as reported by Deadline.

IFC’s Dave Franco-directed horror movie The Rental continued to hold its lease atop the box office for a second weekend in a row, grossing $317,823 from 242 locations. Pic’s 10-day gross stands at $916,333.

The Rental reps the first No. 1 movie for the indie distrib (My Big Fat Greek Wedding, if you remember, only got up to the No. 2 spot for three weekends in a row starting in Labor Day 2002). Again, The Rental is the second new title to hold the top spot at the box office since the major chains closed down in mid-March, after Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls World Tour. Black Bear produced and financed The Rental.

The Rental continues to hold strong digitally, maintaining the No. 1 spot on iTunes’ Horror charts this week, as well as placing within the platform’s top 10 overall.
